The Lahti Art Museum and The Poster Museum

The Lahti Art Museum was established in 1950 and, since then, it has been situated at Vesijärvenkatu 11, in connection with the City Technical Office.

In the exhibition department at street level there are constantly changing exhibitions showing old and modern art and graphic design both from Finland and from abroad. There is no permanent exhibition at all, but works from the museums’s are being shown mainly at different theme exhibitions.

The Poster Museum was established in connection with The Lahti Art Museum in Autumn 1975. Its aim is to collect, deposit and study Finnish and foreign graphic design. The collections are augmented mainly through donations but also through purchases and deposits. The collections contain approximately 60 000 prints, most of which are posters.

The museum is temporarily closed.
